Great Lakes Lacquer's Polishing Poetic Collection

*Press Samples*

Hi everyone! Today I have a brand new collection from Great Lakes Lacquer to share with you! The Polishing Poetic Collection is a collection of 8 gorgeous multichromes and multichrome holos inspired by classic poetry. The Polishing Poetic Collection releases on February 17th at 3 PM EST in the Great Lakes Lacquer shop

Ease One Life The Aching is a multichrome holo with shifts from purple to pink to orange to gold. Formula was excellent and built easily to opacity in 2 coats (no layering needed). The color shift in this one is very reminiscent of a sunset and despite having a very prominent holo flame, the color shift is still very apparent.
If I can stop one heart from breaking,I shall not live in vain;If I can ease one life the aching,Or cool one pain,Or help one fainting robinUnto his nest again,I shall not live in vain.
~Emily Dickinson

I Carry Your Heart is a red multichrome with shifts of purple, fuchsia, red, gold, bronze. Formula was very nice to work with and had easy opaque coverage in 2 coats. The base color here is a deep wine red and it makes the whole color spectrum of the multichrome pigment pop so nicely.
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

~ E. E. Cummings

In A Handful Of Dust is a maroon red multichrome with shifts of fuchsia to orange to gold to green. This one had another great formula that reached easy opacity with no layering needed. I love the touch of sparkle that this one seemed to have from the golden part of the shift!
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only A heap of broken images, where the sun beats,And the dead tree gives no shelter, the cricket no relief,And the dry stone no sound of water. Only There is shadow under this red rock,(Come in under the shadow of this red rock),And I will show you something different from either Your shadow at morning striding behind you Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
~ TS Eliot

Leaves No Step Had Trodden Black is a deep grass green multichrome with shifts from gold to green to aqua. Oh man, another fabulous formula with easy opacity in 2 coats. This one had a slightly metallic edge to it and I was totally smitten with the gold/green shift here. It might not be the most dramatic shift of all of the polishes in this collection, but it really stole my green loving heart.
And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black.Oh, I kept the first for another day!Yet knowing how way leads on to way,I doubted if I should ever come back.I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —I took the one less travelled by,And that has made all the difference.
~ Robert Frost

Like Air, I'll Rise is a multichrome holo with shifts from sea green to aqua to pink to purple to gold. I would have figured the formula on this one would be sheer, but it built up nicely to opacity in 2 coats with no layering needed. This is another super strong holo, but it still has a wonderful rainbowy color shifting effect (the gold is very apparent in real life, but hard to capture in photos).
You may shoot me with your words,You may cut me with your eyes,You may kill me with your hatefulness,But still, like air, I’ll rise.
~ Maya Angelou

The Centre Cannot Hold is a multichrome holo with shifts from reddish pink to gold to green. Formula was very nice to use and built up easily to opacity in 2 coats (no layering needed). This was my very favorite of them all! The color shift is just outstanding!
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

~ William Butler Yeats

The Dying Of The Light is an inky dark blue multichrome with shifts from purple to red to orange to gold to green. Formula was easy to use and I used 2 coats for full opacity (no layering needed). This one is so unique and the shifting shimmer is mysterious and lovely against the inky base. Definitely one that was harder to capture in photos.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height,Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night.Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
~ Dylan Thomas

The Tune Without Words is a sky blue multichrome with shifts from bright aqua to purple to orange. Formula was very nice to use and I used 2 coats for full coverage (no need for layering). This polish is just outstanding and the purple/blue shift is STUNNING! It was so camera shy, but truly gorgeous and unique in real life.
'Hope' is the thing with feathers—That perches in the soul—And sings the tune without the words—And never stops—at all—
~Emily Dickinson
